1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files saved to your browser when you visit a website. They let the site remember you, keep your preferences, and work properly. In this policy, “cookies” also covers similar technologies such as local storage.
2. Our Approach
knowurTouR uses only the cookies that are genuinely necessary.
No non-essential cookie runs without your consent. Until you consent, the analytics, error-logging, and advertising/affiliate content are not loaded at all. We do not show personalised ads or build an advertising profile about you; the only form of advertising we use is the affiliate content described below.
3. Cookies We Use
3.1. Strictly necessary cookies (no consent required)
Required for the Site’s basic functions; these cannot be switched off.
| Purpose | What it stores | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Language preference | Your chosen language (TR/EN) | 12 months |
| Cookie consent | Whether you have given consent | 12 months |
This data stays in your browser and does not identify you personally.
3.2. Analytics and performance cookies (require your explicit consent)
These run only if you select “Accept” on the cookie banner.
| Provider | Purpose | What it collects | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase Analytics | Understand how the Site is used and improve content | Pages and categories viewed, link clicks, session duration, referring address, approximate location (country/city), device and browser information, pseudonymous client identifier | Up to 14 months |
| Error logging (Firebase Firestore) | Detect and fix technical errors | Error message, page address, browser information, pseudonymous client identifier | Up to 12 months |
What is a pseudonymous client identifier? It’s a random number assigned to your browser. It contains no name, email, or identity details and does not directly identify you. It only helps us answer questions like “which pages did this visitor view, and where did an error occur?“
3.3. Advertising and affiliate cookies (require your explicit consent)
Some pages of the Site display affiliate content for relevant travel services (as a search box or promotional area). This content is provided by the Travelpayouts affiliate network and the brands it works with. These areas load only if you select “Accept” on the cookie banner; if you do not consent, you see an empty placeholder reading “Advertising area — shown with cookie consent,” and no third-party script runs.
| Provider | Purpose | What it collects | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Travelpayouts and the brands it works with (Kiwitaxi, Tiqets, AirHelp, Localrent, Klook) | Attribute a booking to us when you click an affiliate link (commission tracking) | Click and booking information, affiliate tracking identifier (marker), browser information | For the provider’s cookie lifetime (typically up to 30 days; up to 90 days for car rentals) |
This content is not personalised advertising — it is not targeted based on your past behaviour and only shows a fixed service relevant to that page’s topic. However, when you click, the relevant brand’s cookie may be placed in your browser, and your data is then processed under that brand’s own privacy policy. Advertising areas carry a “Reklam / Sponsored” label.
4. Managing Your Consent
- On your first visit: you’ll see a cookie banner. Until you consent, nothing beyond the strictly necessary cookies runs.
- Changing it later: use the [Cookie Settings] link in the Site footer to change your preference or withdraw your consent at any time.
- Through your browser: you can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies means your language preference won’t be remembered and the banner will reappear on every visit.
Browser settings: Chrome · Safari · Firefox · Edge
5. International Transfers
Analytics and error logging run on Google Firebase infrastructure, and advertising/affiliate content runs on Travelpayouts infrastructure; these providers’ servers may be located outside Turkey. If you consent, the relevant data is therefore transferred abroad. See section 5 of our Privacy Policy for details.
6. Related Notices
For detailed information about how your personal data is processed and your rights under Article 11 of the KVKK, please read our Privacy Policy.
7. Changes
This policy may be updated. The current version is always published on this page; the date at the top shows when it was last updated.
